Howdy from the Patch Kitchen!

We’ve been doing a lot of planning, harvesting, and eating in these gorgeous fall days. Tomatoes are in the freezer, and herbs are picked and drying for winter tea. As some of you know, I wear overalls whenever possible, so I’m pleased to report that Anza has finally obtained her own pair to work in. The pea hens have taken to using the Patch Kitchen roof to do their morning grooming, and the space is beginning to feel welcoming.

Frustratingly, the increasing cost of lumber (up 20% in the last couple of weeks – yikes!) has forced a bit of an adjustment in our construction schedule and delayed the completion of the decks. I had hoped to do a couple of dinners this fall, but that is looking overly optimistic, so now we are confidently aiming to schedule some trial runs in the spring when the greenhouses begin bursting with goodness.

As we get our menu planning dialed in and settle on some specific dates, I’ll be in touch.

Until then, be well, eat well, and consider donning a pair of your favorite overalls in solidarity.

All the best,

Jennifer & Anza
